I collect visit counts using Goatcounter.
- is this someone's first visit today?
(“today” = “in an 8-hour window”) - which pages are readers visiting?
- where are they being linked from?
- what type of browser and monitor are they using?
- which languages would they like to read?
Of course I don't sell this information. You can see an example of what Goatcounter reports here, which is the developer's personal site. I don't collect visitors' countries.
Goatcounter sets a short-term cookie to distinguish the first page-hit from other page-hits the same day. patanor will save personal preferences (font, color, etc.) to its own cookie when I add those features.

patanor is typeset in Sorts Mill Goudy by Barry Schwartz and Ovo by Nicole Fally—unfortunately I can't find a good link. Japanese glyphs are provided by Klee One All are available under the Open Font Licence; please feel free to use them if you like the style. You can grab them from Google or from me
The color scheme is my original work. I don't think color schemes should be owned, and you're welcome to use it for anything, just please don't, I dunno, trademark something I made. Color codes are at the top of patanor.css.

patanor is built using Cobalt static site generator with Asciidoctor and minify-html duct-taped to it. The adoc-to-html templates are htmlbook and the general html/liquid templates are my own, built on the skeleton of the Nikola default theme.
